Season Ten of Friends will end the sitcom's perennial reign over NBC's "Must-See" Thursdays. Could this show be any more beloved by couch potatoes? And for 39-year-old actress Courteney Cox, it's hard to believe the biggest gig of her career is almost over!
"It really has not [sunk in]," Cox told reporters at the Television Critics Assoc. press tour in Hollywood. "I mean, we talked about it recently. It's going to be very hard. I can't even imagine that this will be the last year, even though I really know for a fact this is it.
"But it feels so strange," Monica's portrayer added. "You know, during the year, you think: 'Oh, okay, well, we've done it enough. And we're tired, and we want to go out on top. We don't want to wear people out.' But it's going to be very emotional. This has been such a huge part of our lives. It's going to be awful."
At what moment did TV's highest-paid sitcom sextet decide to eek out just one more season? "I don't know what the turning point was, really," Cox mused. "I just know we sat in Lisa's [dressing] room or my room, or Jennifer's or David's or Matthew's and just sat there for hours on end, talking about what everybody wanted to do, and when it was time to walk away.
"This was a good compromise for everyone, to do another 18 episodes," she summed up. "There's six of us, and we all stick together. So we just had to make sure we're all ready to go at the same time. I'm not sure what it was... 10 years is a long time, though."
